CAN bus in a vehicle
What is a CAN bus in a vehicle?
A CAN (Controller Area Network) bus is a two-wire digital network that lets a vehicle's electronic modules, sensors, gauges, and displays communicate over a single shared connection instead of separate point-to-point wiring. It reduces wiring weight and cost, improves reliability, and makes instrumentation easy to add or reconfigure. CAN is the backbone of modern on-road and off-road vehicle electrical systems. AMETEK VIS designs its displays, gauges, and control modules to operate on CAN networks, including SAE J1939-based systems used in heavy-duty trucks and equipment.
